Version 2.0 of jabot.net: WordPress powered
Finally! I completed setting up a WordPress blog to power my site. Previously, my site consisted of:
- Static pages using PHP for a rudimentary template system
- A Gallery 1 photo gallery
- A ViPER guestbook, which the developers stopped supporting, apparently making it a big spam target and security threat
I originally attempted to make a Drupal blog, but it had so many extra capabilities that I wasn’t going to use, and the learning curve was not fun. WordPress is so much easier to set up for a personal blog. It is actually enjoyable to set up a custom WordPress blog. The administration capabilities are intuitive and user friendly, providing just enough of the options I desire. It only took me a few days to customize the basic design.
I expect this blog to evolve and mature as I continue to add posts and customize it to my needs.
WordPress 2.3 is awesome!
